Here Comes the Sun

George Harrison wrote this in Eric Clapton's garden in the spring of 1969. He'd been skipping Beatles business meetings — understandably — and found a guitar, some sunshine, and the most hopeful song in the Abbey Road catalogue. It took him about twenty minutes. Some songs know exactly what they want to be.

More than fifty years later it remains one of the most reliably mood-lifting pieces of music ever recorded. Not because it's complicated. Because it isn't. Because sometimes all you need is a song that says: the difficult bit is over. Something good is coming. Here it comes.
